I'D SURE LOVE TO RETURN HERE IN THE FALL !!!

Addendum --- I must say Oak Creek was one of my favorite finds in Sedona. I took shots from street level and basically got sucked in to its beauty. Left mom in the car and I headed down to get closer. Apparently I wasn't satisfied with being on the side so I delicately made my way across the rocks out into the middle. This was not a planned photo-op. I was wearing flip-flops !!! And so scared I was gonna fall in with my camera around my neck. Needless to say we survived. And mom came looking for me since it took me so long. Honestly I believe I could've sat on those rocks from sun up to sun down. I probably took about 50 pics of this one view trying to get my camera settings to my liking. (I'm still learning) I think luck was on my side!!

This eclipse event was much more exciting than the Super moon.
The sky cleared up from the cloudy day. However one little band of clouds came cruising thru right in middle of the most critical moment of the eclipse.

i took a roadtrip of a lifetime in 2010.
mom & I, 2 weeks, 10 states, a big circle out west.
i only had my "little" camera (Canon A720) but i managed to take about 2000 photos.
i can't wait to do it again ... with my "big" camera (Canon 7D)

I went in the country to watch the full moon rise hoping to get some great moon pics.. that didn't turn out as well as I hoped so I decided to light-paint the town with my camera.

Best concert I've ever been to.

2nd row. 5 ft from him. Zoom lens!!
One of the best moments of my life. Merle Haggard has and always will be my favorite country singer.

i called ahead and asked about camera restrictions (i learned the hard way at BB King concert)
all i was told was no video and no professional cameras and no flash and i must stay seated. not hard to do since i was 5 ft away. i had the camera disassembled & hidden in separate small totes all packed away nicely in my purse/backpack. I took the point n shoot as a back up plan just in case. they did not check my purse !! woo hoo :-)
i took LOTS of pics. kept the camera on 8s/frame so i could fire away. lighting was great since i was so close and it was a small auditorium. my only concern was the vibration i was feeling from the man behind me stomping his foot on the floor. eventually ill get all of the pics uploaded. i still need to browse thru them. I love Texas. As I travel along it's backroads I see things of beauty others may not realize is there. I try to capture those images in my photography. However it's not hard to see the beauty in a field of wildflowers along the road. Happy Monday !!

These are my favorite roads to travel on. The ones where there's no traffic to worry about since I'm stopping all of the time to take pictures.
I love open road shots. So much I created a community on SmugMug. I took several of this shot at different levels (my level & a bug's level) Not sure which one I liked best. It was extremely windy & coupled with my unsteady hand... I'm surprised I captured any shots without massive blur.

one afternoon it was raining. a rare & much appreciated event up here in the TX panhandle.
Big heavy raindrops were plummeting my patio wall railing. so i took advantage of this opportunity. i've tried this before but did it handheld. results not good. this time i used the tripod like a good little photographer should. this time my pics were better (in a fuzzy abstracty way) but still not perfect. will try again someday.

Welcome to my world ...

I've always been interested in photography thanks to my father's subscription to National Geographic... but more so in the mid-90's when my creative gene finally surfaced & I purchased a 35mm EOS Rebel X. Since then I moved on to a digital Canon Powershot S200 Elph, a Canon PowerShot A720IS, and most recently a Canon 7D.

And now my real photographic journey begins ....

My photography collections begin around 1996 when I relocated from Texas to Georgia. While living in Georgia and using 35 mm Rebel and the 3 megapixel S200 Elph, my enthusiasm for nature, scenery, & flowers began. I was hooked !!

In 2003, I moved back to Texas (home !!) where my camera & I continued to explore & capture the back roads & scenic routes.
In 2008, I upgraded to the 8 megapixel Powershot 720IS & upgraded again in 2011 with the Canon7D.

I've also become a little obsessed with the alphabet letter photography craze ... what started out as a photographic project for my home moved on to presents for family & friends and then a small business.. AshleyArt

As my camera has improved over the years I hope my skill level will someday catch up. I'd love to know who has stopped by to view my pictures and what you think of them.. The good, the bad, or the ugly .... please feel free to leave comments, helpful hints, or just a thumbs up or down.
